Olivia Cannon at WM Studios

Olivia finished up the vocals today at WM Studios (http://www.wmstudios.tv/).  The recordings are really sounding great.  It won't be long before we can submit the recordings for distribution.  We have so much to do, and very little time to do it in.  We are scheduled to leave on June 3, 2010.  So much has happened in such a short period of time. www.oliviacannon.com

Olivia Cannon's New & Complete website: www.oliviacannon.com

I can't believe it.  I finished the www.oliviacannon.com website.  Ten pages in ten days, whew!!  It was my first. It was kind of rough at first.  There was a steep learning curve, but with www.godaddy.com and their assistance I was able to search, and purchase a domain accompanied with Website Tonight web builder program.  When I got stuck all I had to do was call them.  There is a technician on call 24 and 7.  It was great!  I never felt stupid or ignorant, they just walked me through it.  And once I learned the basics, I was off and running.  Now www.oliviacannon.com has 10 full pages of information, pics, videos, her bio, her gig calendar, and links to facebook and back here to the blogspot.

Olivia Cannon Chillin' on Sunday

I think this was the first day we actually focused on relaxing and playing.  We rode our Sun EZ tadpole recumbent trikes down to the hill to PetSmart to drop off Bella at the groomers.  Then we headed on down to the shopping center for breakfast at Subway & coffee drinks at Starbucks.  On the way back up back up the hill we went to a mission church in our neighborhood, San Francisco Xavier Mission, to say hello to Inez, the local spiritual guide and say our prayers for the upcoming Play Across America Tour.  After we made our way home, we watered the trees and cooled ourselves after our trike ride.

Olivia Cannon at WM Studios

Olivia finished recording the vocals for her soon to be released CD at WM Studios with Wade Martin.  She made it look so easy it is easy to forget that she is only 14 years old.  I really enjoy being a part of the process of Olivia's creations.  Hopefully both songs, "Today, I Just Love You" and "Fallin' " will be ready for release next week.  Then the hard work of promotion begins.
We are still working and getting things prepared for the Play Across America Tour. Hopefully in the next week I will be able to confirm the first months venues.

Olivia Cannon has a new website www.oliviacannon.com

I am in the process of learning, developing and building a new website for Olivia Cannon.  What a learning curve.  Last night I thought my brain was going to explode.  I've worked in healthcare as a midwife for over 30 years and am currently working hard on my PhD in nursing and healthcare innovation.  Before that I was a union carpenter and an amateur grease monkey; none of that relates to computer software.  At least I didn't have to call http://www.godaddy.com/ again to get help.  The night before when I was initially was trying to set up the website using their software called Website Tonight (which tries to convey how easy it is supposed to be), I called and spent some time on the phone only to discover the system was down.  Well, I got my first computer at the age of 30 and was one of the first people on the planet to work on a database from a home computer.  Ah, but I guess I am dating myself there.  I better be careful.  I  wouldn't want to give away how old I am.  Age is just a number anyway.  I believe that you are only as old as you believe yourself to be.  Gray hair, wrinkles, and a thickening waist are all outward signs, but I think it is more attitude than anything.  Research says that if you keep your mind learning new things and putting down new pathways, your brain will stay younger.  They also say that it is your social support system too.  If you hang out with a bunch of old fogies and watch "the doers do" instead of being the doer, you will get older faster.  Oh well, enough BS.
I have a meeting tomorrow with a local auto dealership, Chapman Chevrolet.  I hope things goes well and we find a sponsor for our "Play Across America Tour".  I have been working hard all week on my presentation.  I hope he bites.
I will try and keep the website up to date and let everyone know what we are doing.  Look for it at www.oliviacannon.com.

Olivia Cannon at Chapman Chevrolet

We went to test drive the new 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax at Chapman Chevrolet.  They didn't have one, but we test drove a V8 instead.  Raheem Ojikutu served us well.  He assisted us to see if all of our Bose L1 Model II portable PA & musical instruments would fit and showed us the ease of loading and unloading.  We also met Mr Pena, the sales manager on deck.  They both joined us as Olivia shared her new songs with everyone at the dealership that she is in the process of recording at WM Studios with Wade Martin.  Olivia's best friend and number one fan, Miranda Smith, joined us for a full day of adventure.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/

Olivia Cannon at WM Studios

Today on Mother's Day, I got to watch my daughter lay down her first track for two songs that will be released at the end of the month.  Wade Martin was great to work with.  He worked his magic and was kind, gentle and brought out the best of Olivia.  Along with us was Amanda Smith, Olivia's best friend and number one fan and her support dog, Bella.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/

Olivia Cannon at Camelback Ford, Phoenix, AZ

We went to Camelback Ford in Phoenix, AZ to check out the new 2011 F250 Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel Crew Cab.  What a ride!!! and with lots of electronic toys and connections.  I loved all the new innovations from the adjustable gas/brake pedals to the backup camera.  But what I liked most was the response time.  In the past diesel powered engines in a pickup tended to have a delay in acceleration, not this one.  Hold on, and brace yourself.  You are going to feel your head being embedded into the head rest.  We've been checkin' out the competition, but Ford is looking strong.  Besides the new F250 Super Duty, I was impressed with the sales & support crew.  They answered all my questions & if they didn't know the answer they found out immediately.  You can go in and ask for Chad Brassel or Kris Wall, they were great!  They took their time and had lots of patience with me as I did the full 360' and kicked the proverbial tires, even let me take it out twice when I realized I had forgotten to check the turning radius.  It beat my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty Crew Cab Long Bed hands down.  And when I wanted to know more on the specs, i.e. gas economy, Nick Matherly, Master Certified Product Specialist, was right there with the answers.  We're looking for a new ride for Olivia's Play Across America Tour this summer.  We need something that all of us and all our stuff will fit in, i.e. musical instruments, the Bose L1 portable PA system, and our travel buddy Bella.  All this stuff will fit in the cab and we will still have room to carry our Sun EZ tad recumbent trikes and pull our Camp Inn teardrop trailer.  We will only be pulling a little teardrop this summer, but who knows I may replace the 5th wheel I recently sold real soon.  To pull a 5th wheel we will need something that can pull at least 10,000 pounds or better.  In between all the wheelin' and dealin' we took breaks for Olivia to share her new songs.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/

Olivia Cannon & her Play Across America Tour

I just finished my last term paper for the semester at Arizona State University at about 3:00 a.m. this morning. Now, the real work begins. I have less than a month to finish all the final plans for our "Play Across America Tour" scheduled to begin June 4, 2010. Olivia, Bella (our four-legged companion), and I will be travelling over 8000 miles this summer. We are doing a loop around the four corners of the USA. We will be camping along the way in our newly acquired Camp Inn teardrop trailer. I traded our behemoth NuWa Hitchhiker II 5th wheel for the lighter and easier to negotiate teardrop travel trailer. Now if I could just find a truck with better gas economy than our 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 (8.1L engine, powerful, but a gas guzzler). Olivia will be playing open mics, churches, and community centers to promote the release of her latest song, "Today, I Just Love You" which is scheduled to be released the end of May. I need to look for sponsors, check out our new Bose L1Model II portable PA system to make sure everything is in working order, find a place that does vehicle wraps, clean out the garage, finish the itinerary and do about 40 hours of research for my advisor at school. I have emailed Wade Martin, our producer, at WM Studios to set up time for Olivia to work in the studio. There is so much to do and sooooo little time. Olivia performs "Fallin' ", another of her original songs, tonight at Arizona School for the Arts, "Diner Night" in Phoenix, Arizona. I hope I get the Bose system set up right and everyone loves her song. The last time she played for "Diner Night" we didn't have the portable PA system and the school's system is lacking.
This picture is of Olivia performing her song, "Baby, I'm Gone" at Devil's Hideaway in Tempe, Arizona.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/

Olivia Cannon Workin' hard

Olivia and I must be working hard because she overslept for school this morning and I had insomnia last night. I think she has only over slept one other time in the past year. I hope she remembered everything she needed for school. I have had intermittent problems with insomnia recently, especially since I have been working on this project. In the past couple of weeks I have had difficulty going to sleep and then waking early. I guess it is all the excitement of what is going on. So when I can't sleep I get up and do something. Sometimes I do housework, but usually I get up and work on a paper (I am in graduate school), or I might do some research, or I work on the tour itinerary, "Play Across America Tour". I need to remember to call Wade Martin about the launch party.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/

Olivia Cannon at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Phoenix, AZ

Hi, I'm Jeanne, Olivia Cannon's manager. She is the newest pop phenom. Her first acoustic pop release will come out the end of May, 2010. We are working with Wade Martin at his studio. We are also in the process of nailing down the details for our 10 week long "Play Across America Tour" that begins June 4, 2010. She will be performing at various open mics around the country and doing community concerts. The pic is of her waiting to play at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in north Phoenix, AZ.  The tour starts in Arizona then across to Los Angeles and up the west coast all the way to the Olympic Peninsula. Then we will go east to New York, south to Atlanta, and west again to Arizona. We are planning a launch party at the downtown civic park in Phoenix, AZ for Memorial weekend. I will write the details when they are complete. She and I were talking today that wouldn't it be fantastic if Justin Bieber or Jordin Sparks could be at her launch party. There sure is a lot of work to be done to launch a music career.  http://www.oliviacannon.com/
